School Membership

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU AND YOUR SCHOOL?
  • You will be part of a big solution to the plastic issues of Africa. You will be a key player in assisting Africa to reach the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations.
  • Becoming a registered member of the AYWN.
  • Receiving a triannual newsletter filled with exciting local articles, inspirational youth, facts, social media pages you should be following and more.
  • Being linked to members and schools across the country and across African borders by placing you and/or your school on our Are You on the Map? virtual interactive platform.
  • AYWN will help your school’s environmental club to be effective and functional.
  • The head committee member of the environmental club will receive a soft skills training course which can be used to enhance their CV.
  • Including your school or personal project in AYWN fundraising opportunities, such as competitions.
  • Making use of the SST logo and AMWN logo on pre-approved documents to show your affiliation with an internationally recognised NPO.
  • An invitation to all youth conferences and festivals hosted by the African Youth Waste Network, with attendees from different parts of the world.
  • Providing your school with educational packages including posters, worksheets, films, plays and stories, an African Guide to Plastics, etc.
  • An SST Flag to signify that your school is healthy and has a prosperous environment.
MEMBERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • You and/or your school actively supporting the initiatives of your school’s environmental club.
  • Actively participating in a minimum of 2 youth meetings, events, conferences and festivals hosted by the AYWN. Transport will be provided for schools to certain events on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Providing clear and timely communication in response to meeting and/or event invitations.
  • Volunteering, when available, at community service events i.e. clean-ups.
  • Maintaining professional conduct by treating fellow AYWN members with respect and dignity.
  • Maintaining a positive, friendly environment necessary for all members to learn and grow.
  • Being an ambassador and leading by example as an advocate for a clean and healthy environment and a sustainable future.
  • Recruiting new members to join the AYWN to expand the network.
  • Providing SST with regular updates from your school to be added to Are You on the Map?  and the AYWN newsletter i.e. new projects/activities, films, photographs, etc.
HOW DO YOU JOIN?

This membership is completely FREE and is applicable to anyone under the age of 24! Fill in the membership form below or click here to download. Once you have completed the form, leave it with a teacher from your school, where an SST representative will collect your form. Or you can pay us a visit and drop off your membership form at our offices.


Individual Membership
