SST Celebrates Combatting Plastic Pollution through Innovation

As with many small plastic items, bottle closures and their tamper-evident rings are common litter items. Their small size makes it uneconomical to pick them up individually for recycling, increasing the likelihood that they end up as litter in the environment.

Polyoak Packaging, a founding member of the SA Plastics Pact, has tackled this challenge with the release of their tethered closure. This innovative design ensures the cap remains attached to the PET bottle once opened, preventing litter and ensuring the caps are recycled as well.

SST celebrates this innovative move from a South African converter, recognising it as another success story and an important step in our journey towards a circular economy for plastic packaging.
